Coral Reef

I decided to say the hell with work today and just did my own thing. That thing being some studies on coral reef for something i'm working on at the moment. Oh and by the way, these studies were done with the aid of alias sketchbook pro. It's all I use now when it comes to sketching since it feels so natural... almost.. too natural. So if you've never used this program before, I highly suggest you try it out.

Motherload of a post

be prepared. there's a fair bit to look at in this post.. or skim through. your choice.
on a side note, it feels great to not worry about handing in assignments for a few months. anywho, on with pictures to look at instead of shitty ole' text.

final character design assignment of year #2. This is probably my favorite character designed by me, although his lack of neck was a bit annoying to work with.

i've just recently starting mucking around with sculpey so this is a face in the makings that still has pleanty to be done with it. ( i have used clay when I was high school.. but that high school, and the art program was shit, therefore it doesn't count)

cute women.. need i say more?

cafe sketches along with what seems to be layout concepts from this semester..

I have some maya to post on here as well but that'll have to wait because I'm not in the mood to switch my OS from Leopard to Windows at the moment.

More of them speed paintings

aaand another

well like i said in my previous post, i'd probably end up creating yet another speed painting. soo here's #2. I'd create a 3rd one but i should probably get back to school related work. anywho, enjoy.

Speed Painting

This is a quick painting that I just recently created with nothing in mind when I started.. in fact I had intentions of just doing a quick exterior layout when I started to see a couple characters develop; sooo I ended up painting these two fellas. I had a lot of fun creating this and plan on doing plenty of these in my near future.. (i'll probably create another one after this post)

Final Paintings

are now complete for the end of my 1st semester of my 2nd year in animation.
Not exactly 100% content with my "realistic" version but time isn't on my side thus it'll do. As for my inked / stylized version i'm 100% content with it and only takes all of 10 minutes to do! well the painting portion of it at least. Inking it took much longer then that and was rather annoying seeing how I had to apply the ink onto rough water color paper. But even though painting it was quick and painless I enjoyed approaching it in this manner. Even though we're only supposed to do 2 versions of this painting, I'm going to attempt a 3rd over the holidays with a more Samurai Jack type approach seeing how I love the art work for the backgrounds in that show.

More Fortress Madness

These are a bunch of color studies that I've been working on today which will then be shown to my painting teacher tomorrow. Once I've seen him I will also do some touch ups on one of the versions I've already completed with the air brush aaaand I will then proceed to start / finish the following painting as well.

copic markers are GODLY!

So I sold my soul for 7 copic markers today and it was well worth the price. I've been having fun with them all night. ANywho here's a doodle i did of myself. I've also added a quick color study for my fortress layout. I spent a good bit of time today screwing around with the sky and getting it mold itself into the rest of the layout. Regardless of the struggle I had with it today though I really like the "mellow" sorta feel thats going on with it now.
