Char Design, and Oakville Place madness!

So I had a blast at Oakville Place today drawing people while listening to some Bonobo to start off my day. On top of that I have my recent char designs to post. My Russian guards action poses fell apart so I'm not posting those.

A painting / layout I came up with at the beginning of the school year. How exciting.
ps. the painting was done with watercolors and cleaned up with an air brush.

Conflict And Climax

This is a storyboard assignment where we have to follow set rules as to how each of the 12 panels are used involving a line that can be used as a horizon, or maybe a line of action. Then there is the circle that is supposed to be a the focal point. The story also has to involve two characters who are in a non-verbal conflict.. thus they are out to hurt each other.. or in this case to kill one another.. Neither of the chaps in my story are good guys and just happen to be two males that don't get along. Why? I really don't know. Anyways this is what I happened to come up with. I wouldn't mind them being a bit cleaner / easier to read but since it's supposed to be an in class assignment it should be fine. Or so I hope.

Mountain Home

This is a piece of concept art I'm working on for my painting class. It's obviously not finished but due to not updating in such a long time I figured I may as well throw up a quick color study that will be completed using water paints. There used to be beams of light breaking through the clouds but it's being a huge pain in the ass to pull off so I'm giving up on that idea.

just a couple sketches I did here at good ole' work. One thing I have really been trying to keep in mind lately when creating a character is rhythm to hopefully make my characters more unsuccessful this year. Anyways.. time to start doing some work related things.

A new year of study in the field of animation is soon to begin!

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm pretty damn eager to get back into the swing of things, even though summer holidays have seemingly gone by pretty fast I still feel that it has been too long since I was last sitting in a classroom (or failing to go to class in most cases as many of you know)

Anywho, I've been hella slack on updating this blog of mine.. it doesn't mean that I haven't been drawing n' such because I've been doing plenty of dawring I just never bother scanning anything. None the less today I have an update.. it's nothing special.. just a quick doodle I did here at work on the ole tablet of a gorilla type character about to embark on a journey of his own.

Anywho these are some quick gestures of a ninja I have in the making.. I still need to give him a face and there is a chance I'll animate him since I did bring animation paper back home with me.

Elephants

these are some quick gestures that I did of elephants sadly from photo refrence due to a lack of elephants to draw back home in Newfoundland. None the less this was still fun and I'm still able to practice looking for large shapes / negative space.

Sit Boy Sit!

GOOD BOY!.. errr hell hound? who knows. I was doodling in my sketchbook today at work and decided the flavor of the day would be a wolf and this is how one of my sketches came out in the end. for whatever reason i didn't bother to throw in a 4th leg but what can ya do? there shall be more drawings of this badass son of a bitch in the very near future.
