Hyenas and Lions!

I was watching a documentary on this one group of lions who hunt one herd of Buffalo, and only that herd all year long. Although on this one page that I scanned there isn't any drawings of Buffalo to be found.. but there are a couple drawings of Hyenas that showed up in one little section of the documentary. After watching the documentary it's made me want to check out the Denver Zoo that much more, which will probably happen next week at some point. I also have a page of doodles from when I was watching an episode of Conan too.

OMG a Dog

or 4... umm I've been using 50% grey and black markers a lot as of lately since that's what I've been having to use for the past 3 weeks for my co-op. SOOO it only made sense to try using them on my own time too.  This is the result of my first time using markers for gestural type drawings.

These are some sketches and a painting of my main character and the women that he gets involved with for my 4th year film that is currently titled "the magician"
Wont get into details about the story, but I pitched it to my classmates last week and they all seemed to like the idea.

I'm Still Alive

It's true! Really don't have anything to post other then work related to the film of which I don't plan on posting till after it's completed in a months time. The main reason why I'm even making this post is because of the video I'm about to show which is incredibly funny due to how sad and true this guy is.. (no idea who he is)

One Wild Saturday Night

Title says it all.
Spent my Saturday night doing some test animation of my groups main character Russel for the short film we're currently working on. For the first time in over 2 years I think I actually enjoyed animating and put forth a lot more effort toward it then I normally do. I was hoping to put up a test animation of him jumping tonight as well but after going to "tweak" a few frames I ended up completely redoing it and still have some issues, so that wont be added till tomorrow. So in the meantime, here's Russel walking the opposite direction of forwards.

High Rise Get-Away

This painting is based off of a layout I did last year. While I was painting it though I made some pretty major changes to the home sitting on top of the mountain. Regardless I loathe whomever it is that has chosen to live atop this mountain to get away from everyday life.

Tropical Get-Away

So today I tackled a painting of a tropical type like island. I've never really painted water before so it was interesting to play around with it and made for a nice learning curve. I feel as though this is a step up from my previous painting but still plenty to learn. Anyways, on with the show.

Digi Painting

I would probably consider this my first real effort toward digital painting, everything else before this has more so been me playing around with different brush settings. That being said there's still plenty for me to learn. I've also added some mini concept sketches n' such to go along with the final painting.

*made a minor edit to the main image. Turns out it was blindingly bright when viewing the image afterward on my monitor rather then my Cintiq.*

and now for my first post of 2009.. also the first time since the break that I've tried creating a bit o art work. Although it's not my fault for slacking so much since I recently had back surgery which i can see being a huge pain in the ass once school starts up again since I still have over 3 months of recovery to go :S Anyways, now for the painting.

an animation post?

zomg!!!! i think this is the first time i have ever posted animation up on here. After changing my AA story a million times. What you're about to see was done over the period of 1 and a half days with sleep and mario kart thrown in there too. I had some major technical difficulties with my coloring process this morning though so it's not looking as clean as it should sooo I'm gonna have to tackle this again at some point in time once I'm semi recovered from some fun loving back surgery tomorrow morning.

Hella rushed everything

Well here's an incredibly rushed layout that I just did for my incredibly rushed AA animation of which I only started working on yesterday.. luckily the animation works so now I just have to color it and then make a new lecia reel before 9am.. nothing like getting everything done at the last minute..

yuuup so I've started up another blog that'll exhibit meals created by me. Every time I cook something new I always take a picture of it, so I figured may as well put them up on a blog for everybody else to see. Yup, sounds about right, this a new character that I came up with last night at the last minute for my AA that has now changed for the 5th time.

Final Layout for AA

I swear.. totally keeping this one.. I started it off trying to pull off the Samurai Jack bg style but I failed on epic proportions so I ended up just going with a style I'm used to.

ps. just looking at it a bit more and there's a fair bit that I want to change with regards to the lighting soooOOO lets just pretend this is my first version of my final AA layout.

Life Drawings

Just a couple drawings from today. Ever since last year when there seemed to be a massive increase of people going to life drawing, I basically stopped going. Although I have as of last week made it a habit to start going again on the weekend when things are calmer and more relaxed.
